In Part 5 of our Walking with God series, Ps Yonathan Wiryohadi delves into the biblical principle of and the second power to gain true wealth that is Stewardship, highlighting that God entrusts us with resources to manage wisely, rather than simply pursuing prosperity or accepting poverty. Grounded in Deuteronomy 8:18, this message explains that stewardship—using God’s resources effectively, efficiently, and according to His timing—is essential to living a faithful life.

Ps Wiryohadi outlines five core truths about stewardship:

  1. How We Manage Worldly Wealth Reflects Spiritual Trustworthiness: Our ability to manage earthly resources impacts the extent to which God trusts us with heavenly blessings (Luke 16:10-11).

  2. Blessings as Borrowed Assets: Many blessings we receive are not solely for our benefit but include resources to be managed on behalf of others (Luke 16:12).

  3. Following God’s Financial Principles: We must choose to manage finances either God’s way or the world’s way. This choice reveals who truly governs our lives (Luke 16:13).

  4. Standing Firm Despite Criticism: Those who are faithful stewards may face criticism from others who prioritize wealth, but this doesn’t change God’s calling (Luke 16:14).

  5. Saving Wisely for Future Needs: God encourages us to save, preparing for times of hardship rather than spending every blessing we receive.

Pastor Yonathan also explains four key principles in managing God’s resources:

  1. Effectiveness: Use resources in ways that align with God’s purpose.

  2. Efficiency: Carry out God’s plan in the most optimal, cost-effective manner.

  3. Timeliness: Act within God’s timing, recognizing that delays may test our character.

  4. Integrity: Always handle resources honestly, knowing that nothing is hidden from God (Acts 5:1-5).

Stewardship is about recognizing that 100% of us belongs to God, and He calls us to manage it faithfully, not only for ourselves but as a reflection of His love to others. By following His principles, we find not only material provision but also spiritual growth and deeper trust in His plan.
