In the part 7 of our Walking with God series, Ps Wiryohadi takes us through the School of Life, where Jesus Christ is our ultimate teacher. Life is a continuous journey of learning, testing, and growth, and Ps Wiryohadi outlines three key phases that shape our character and faith.
1. The Learning Phase: Embracing God’s Lessons
This is the longest phase in the school of life. Psalm 119:19 reminds us that life is a journey of discovery. In this phase, we are encouraged to:
• Read and absorb knowledge: Fill our hearts with God’s Word.
• Listen to the Teacher: Pay attention to wisdom and instruction (Proverbs 2:1, 3:1).
• Do the homework: Meditate on and practice God’s commandments (Joshua 1:7-9).
The focus here isn’t on talents or gifts but on building godly character, as emphasized in Matthew 7:21-23.
2. The Testing Phase: Facing Life’s Challenges
Hebrews 12:5-6 reveals that life includes moments of testing, where our faith and character are refined. Tests may take various forms, including:
• Discipline: Gentle correction from God to help us grow (Hebrews 12:5a).
• Encouragement amidst warnings: A reminder not to lose hope (Hebrews 12:5b).
• Loving correction: God disciplines those He loves (Hebrews 12:6a).
• Acknowledgment as God’s children: Tests confirm our place in His family (Hebrews 12:6b).
Though brief, tests determine whether we are ready for the next level of life or if we need further preparation. These challenges often include profound encounters with God, such as Moses’ meeting with Him in Exodus 3:4-5.
3. The Rest Phase: Recovery and Renewal
After seasons of testing, we enter a period of rest and restoration. As shown in 1 Kings 19:6-8, this is a time to recover from life’s struggles and regain strength. Rest is not just a break but a divine provision to prepare us for what lies ahead.
The School of Life is about growth, not perfection. Every lesson, test, and season of rest draws us closer to God, refining our character and deepening our faith. Are you ready to embrace the learning process, face life’s challenges, and step into His rest?
